Plymouth Fancy Pigeon Club

 

The Winter Show was held at the on the 22 October at the Weston Mill Oak Villa Social Club, 529 birds were entered with a good split between the Flying varieties and the Fancy breeds.

 

It was a show that Les Dawson, our president and founder member had to miss as he was unwell and so Gary Eaton presented his Hall of Fame award to Emily who accepted it on his behalf. Doreen and Gary presented the framed certificate to Les later at his home and he was absolutely thrilled. Sadly Les died a few days later. He will be greatly missed by all at not just the Plymouth club but throughout the pigeon fraternity where Les was loved and respected by all.

 

Exhibitors came from far and wide, a good contingent from Bristol who mainly exhibit in the flying breeds who always have top class birds in immaculate condition. Local breeders relish showing against them and always learn a great deal from dedicated and professional breeders and exhibitors.

Great to see our friends from Cornwall, who bring a mixture of breeds to the show, and lots of smiling faces. They always go back across the bridge laden with cards and silverware, and hopefully having enjoyed a good day in Devon.

I could also hear the Welsh accent in evidence around the pens. As well as helping with the judging they had a very successful day with their own birds.

And of course local exhibitors from around the Devon area that held their own with their birds in the various categories.

 

Michaela did well with the raffle as she always does, our local pet shop donates a bag of feed which helps sell a few extra tickets.
